OUR FIRST PROJECT

Bring back the Attica City Pool with added services and more space for recreation.

the old public pool
How we got started:

After the Attica City Pool closed in 2019, meetings were held to determine how the city could bring back the pool. During those meetings it became clear that funding and grants for an aquatic center would be more available through a nonprofit than through a municipality (city). Additionally, much discussion was held that children, and especially  teenagers needed more opportunities to get off technology and socialize. Research shows that children and adults of all ages have better mental health when involved in a multi-generational community and when getting regular physical activity. Thus, the nonprofit was formed to focus on both the long-term goal of an aquatic center and the short-term goals and overall mission of providing healthy opportunities for social engagement, community, and physical activity.

How will we earn $10 million?

Our nonprofit organization will apply for multiple grants specifically through the entities listed below, as well as others as we become aware of offerings. We will also seek private donations and conduct active fundraising activities. The initial phase will be a 10 year endeavor, but with our step wise approach listed to the side, we will also bring in money through memberships to our indoor workout center, through the rental of the community room, and via concessions. We cannot get grants without the investment of people in our community, so we appreciate each and every one of your donations. More recently, we have also explored the  partnership with the YMCA as a way to run a capital campaign, one they project to only take up to two years.

Join us in planning!

As part our fundraising for an aquatic center we will plan various community events to meet the ongoing mission of our recreational outreach efforts. If you have any ideas or want to be in charge of planning a social event, please contact us! Thus far, we hope to offer community bike rides and hikes, cooking classes, adult recreational leagues, a baseball game at Lafayette Aviators Stadium, card tournaments and dance lessons.
